Lines for Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide, has named Laura Heesacker, LCSW, MSW, as one of its 25 honorees. The organization is honoring outstanding ambassadors as part of its 25th anniversary celebration and Silver Jubilee Gala on February 23.
Laura Heesacker is the behavioral health innovation specialist with Jackson Care Connect and a member of the Oregon Pain Guidance Group in Southern Oregon. Laura coined the term “Shift Happens,” meaning health care providers need to shift their thinking about behavioral health. Laura is making this shift happen by helping providers and clinics implement best practice pain care. She’s also helping providers engage in difficult conversations with patients about strategies to safely manage pain without opioids. Laura has presented at regional summits with the Oregon Coalition for Responsible Use of Meds, and is currently working with Lines for Life to host the 2018 Oregon Conference on Opioids, Pain and Addiction Treatment. Her dedication, which is rooted in heart-felt compassion, is a light that shines brightly in everything she does.
