Member Assignment and Reassignment policy changes
We are implementing a change to the CareOregon Member Assignment and Reassignment policy. Member assignment is when a member is assigned a primary care provider and re-assignment is when the member moves from one primary care provider to another primary care provider. CareOregon Advantage (COA) members will now be included the auto-reassignment process. This change will be effective across CareOregon/Health Share, Jackson Care Connect and Columbia Pacific CCO.
Effective April 6, 2026, COA members may be automatically reassigned to a different primary care provider (PCP) when:
- CareOregon has paid two consecutive primary care visits within 15 months to a clinic the member is not assigned to.
- The new clinic is contracted and accepting new members.
- The member has not opted out of auto-reassignment.
There will be a member notification and 45-day hold period before reassignment occurs.
Why are we changing?
Currently, the assignment and reassignment of COA members is done manually. This change aims to support our COA members in choosing to see their preferred providers. This change will also allow providers to better manage their patient rosters and provide quality care to their patients.
